Full Moon
Brandy brings more personal experience, some quite turbulent, to this album; making it on the whole more serious in content than her previous albums.

What Brandy needed to do was to tell Rodney to back off and let her sing.  Alas, that's not exactly what happened, and the result is that her beautiful voice takes the back seat to dominant instrumentals and digital effects.

For this reason, I was initially not fond of this album.  However, it does grow on you.  Probably because there are little places here and there where Brandy's sheer talent pokes through the noise and shines.

Ironically, I think my favourite song on this album is “He Is.”  That song is particularly well-delivered, carrying deep emotion.  It also wasn't really over-produced as is typical of many of the songs on the album.  It's an example of how the album still does have some very beautiful moments.

Full Moon” is another really pretty song.  The beat's bumpin', yet isn't too, too obtrusive.  Though not totally free of the digital meddling that compromises this album, the vocals are still beautiful - particularly in the beginning, before things get busy.  (This is often the case.)

“Nothing” is a nice song, too.

“Love Wouldn't Count Me Out” was able to make me cry, which very few songs are capable of.

“Like This” shows a sexy side of Brandy; slightly provocative, without compromising her class.

“WOW” is an extremely beautiful and inspiring song.  I love the lines:

He loves me the way that I wanted you to love me
He's always thinking of me
He's nothing like you at all.

While this album doesn't equal Never Say Never, it's still well-worth having, for the sweet moments that make up for the unfortunate misplacement of its emphasis.
