Willie Norwood delivers uplifting vocals in a pleasant voice, singing heartfelt songs of joy and praise. He sings very skillfully and expressively, with feeling and sincerity. He's joined by a number of background vocalists who contribute a very effective choir sound.
Brandy lends her sweet, pretty voice to several tracks, including the heartwarming duet with her father, “A Love Shared.”
This album also shows good production, with very fitting instrumentals, from lively to laid-back.
'Bout It opens with “'Bout It,” a catchy, upbeat song on which Willie Norwood quite expressively sings about finding out what life's really about, and that it's not about materialism.
On “Have A Talk With God,” Mr. Norwood offers the advice of taking one's problems to God, over a funky beat. Brandy adds a nice touch singing some of the backup vocals.
Slowing it down, Brandy and her father sing of their love for each other in a touching duet, “A Love Shared.” I'm sure it goes without saying that they both sing beautifully. (And, it's really nice to hear Brandy's pretty voice without all the layering and electronic meddling.)
The beat picks back up with a groovy rendition of “Put A Little Love In Your Heart.” Willie Norwood sounds a little bit like Al Green (who has also done a cover of the same song, with Annie Lennox.) It's a nice track, and is further enhanced by a hint of Brandy.
Mr. Norwood gives powerful vocals in “I'm Gonna Make It,” an uplifting song.
In “No Limit,” Mr. Norwood declares a renewed self-confidence. He has no trouble belting out a song with strength and conviction, and can hold a note impressively and with good vibratto.
The next track is a family affair, with father and son joining Willie Norwood to sing “Have Thine Own Way.”
In “I'd Trade A Lifetime,” Willie Norwood sings with spirit and emotion about how he'd trade a lifetime for a day in God's paradise. He shows skill at delivering a mixture of both gentler and more intense vocals.
Willie Norwood is joined by Melvin Williams and Doug Williams in “The Search Is Over.” They complement each other well.
“All That I Need” is a mellow and moving song in which Willie Norwood thankfully celebrates all that he's been blessed with. He nicely delivers softer as well as more powerful vocals, fitting the song well.
The album is closed out on the same theme as was opened at its beginning.
'Bout It is a sincere expression of faith and spirituality, and a strong vocal performance.
